Ein Spiel, das seinerzeit neue Maßstäbe setzte: Metropolis Street Racer auf der Dreamcast. Das rundum gelungene Rennspiel von Bizarre Creations (R.I.P) legte auch den Grundstein für die erfolgreiche Project Gotham Racing-Serie für Xbox und Xbox 360.
Mehr als ein Jahrzehnt nach dem Release von Metropolis Street Racer wird nun ein lustiger Fakt bekannt: Das Auto auf dem Spielcover hatte keinen Motor.
Wie Ross McLeish, damals Head of Art Department bei SEGA Europe, auf seiner Homepage verrät, hatte das Auto auf dem Metropolis Stret Racer Cover (ein Opel vx220) keinen Motor und wurde aus Deutschland zum Shooting transportiert, man musste das Fahrzeug am Set schieben.
„The shots were commissioned by the developer Bizarre Creations and used as the key art for the release of MSR on the Dreamcast console.
Made at Sega while I was Art Department Director with a great team to shoot the Opel vx220. The car was shipped from Germany with no engine, we pushed! Long exposure and plenty of photoshop work.“
